Rod Ryan commenced his Real Estate career with Stockdale and Leggo Real Estate, on October 17th 1970. In 1981 he ventured into his own company, R.D Ryan & Co., in the Melbourne suburb Doncaster East. After 20 successful years of trading Rod sold his company to competitor and good friend Barry Plant, one of Melbourne’s largest Real Estate franchise companies.
A move to Perth in 2001 saw Rod take the helm of one of Fremantle’s leading Real Estate agencies, where he met and employed a dynamic young man from Sydney by the name of Miguel De Freitas. Miguel quickly grew from Rod’s protege to Rod’s business partner and in 2007, De Freitas & Ryan Property Consultants was established.
By 2020 Rod and Miguel had achieved their goal of becoming one of Perth’s leading Real Estate companies. Their sphere of influence spanned from Yanchep to Mandurah, with Residential offices in Rockingham, South Lake, Perth and Wanneroo, plus a specialist Commercial office in Cockburn Central.
COVID-19 paid us a visit in 2020 and in typical De Freitas and Ryan style of turning a negative into a positive, it was decided to get back to basics and carry out an analysis of what the real strengths and weaknesses of our now large organisation employing over 60 people were. Coincidentally we were approached by a specialist residential property management company who were keen to purchase that side of our business on the basis that we would enter into a reciprocal arrangement where we were to direct all residential rental business to them in return for us handing all their residential sales. They specialised only in residential property management and did not sell property.
On 1 December 2020 Rental Management Australia (RMA) took control of all our residential managements resulting in us now specialising in what we consider to be our prime skill sets and that is residential sales, commercial sales, leasing and commercial property management.
Our “powerhouse” commercial office is located in Cockburn Central headed by Miguel De Freitas and our new residential sales office headed by Rod Ryan and young Navid Heshmati has been established in Applecross in the heart of Perth’s high end residential area with Rod now being able to concentrate on his preferred expertise in selling and auctioning residential property. We look forward to seeing the newly branded DE FREITAS RYAN Residential making inroads into the Perth residential property market.
