Property Blog – Week 145

It certainly has been another big week in Real Estate and it certainly has been another big week in Canberra. Migi ‘The Marvel' nearly got arrested for parking his hire car in the Prime Minister's car bay out the front of Parliament House (while holidaying in the national capital) and then got into more strife for telling the authorities that he couldn't see what all the fuss was about as after all Julia is really the only the ‘Caretaker' at the moment. It will be good to have our little mate back safe and well after his ‘Sojourn' over east which has included Sydney, Canberra, the Snowfields, Kebab park (Etihad Stadium) the MCG and the od restaurant in Melbourne and lorne. The good news is there's been plenty of deals going on back here at the Coal Face, so he won't have to hitch a ride back over the Nullarbor. With a number of people away on leave it's left to “yours truly” to try and close some of the deals and that's a most satisfying role I have in our Company. After 40 years in the Business I still fortunately get a real “buzz” out of putting deals together. Our man FOS (Father Of Samantha) Glen Ross, has come in first again this year with 120 winners in our Company footy tipping competition. Well done “FOS” and even though you are a former Collingwood player and passionate black and white supporter we're all still friends.


Congratulations Glen Ross

Our Residential Rental Department had a brilliant month in August but it appears it was all too much for our Senior Property Manager Nuno (Portuguese Man Of War) who is now home under the doona with the dreaded lurgy. Get well quick Nuno as we are seriously under the pump at the moment.


It's Our “One A Week Man” Mark

Mark is all smiles this morning as he's just sold another one and as a matter of fact there's quite a few smiles on faces today, as it's been a really productive week. We're all off to the footy tomorrow to see Freo clean up the Hawks while I clean up a couple of pies. Should be a great game and few weeks ahead.

It's really busy here today. Trav is in the middle of doing a few deals plus listing a few more, Corey is off out with the “gift baskets” as he has a few settling today, Tony is putting one together at just over the $600,000 mark, Tanya is wrapping one up in Bibra Lake, Sir Milton is listing two more this afternoon and so on it goes.


Melita & Ash Our Calender Girls

We just took a delivery of thousands of magnetic 2011 calendars, so many in fact that young Ash thought she was climbing the pyramids. Yes, can you believe 2011 is just around the corner and our admin people are making sure we hit the ground running.

State Of The Nation

Well that's a play on words itself because obviously without doubt Western Australia is definately THE State of the Nation. In all seriousness our nation is in a bit of an awkward situation Politically at the moment, but hopefully that will all sort itself out with sensible stable outcomes over the next few weeks.


Julia Our Caretaker P.M

They're a funny “mob” these people in Canberra, all 400,000 of them and they let the smallest things upset them. I decided to do a tour of the War Memorial and Government House whilst on a week's holiday in the Nation's Capital and I received a hefty fine for having my hire car illegally parked in the Prime Ministers car bay. I explained to the authorities that I couldn't see what all the fuss was about as after all Julia is really only the "caretaker".

Rod and I attended a dinner put on by the ANZ Bank on budget night and they had some wonderful speakers who all had the same theme and that was “the only thing that can ruin Australia's fantastic 25 year opportunity ahead is poor Governance”. So let's hope that our Politicians don't stand in the way of the opportunities that are before all of us fortunate to live in this wonderful Country.

Our office has continued to write excellent figures in all divisions and with our company now numbering some twenty five people we seem to have the ability to “self generate” even when the market place is generally quiet. There is a lot of talk about at the moment that America is heading back into recession and some of the Current Affair and News programs seem to really pursue the negativity. All I can tell you is that we are extremely busy and continuing to build our people, our business and our brand and we are having a lot of fun along the way.

Glen Ross otherwise known as “FOS” (Father Of Samantha) has won our office football tipping competition with a total of 120 winners for the year. Congratulations Glen and thanks for all your valuable input and advice throughout the year.


Welcome Katherine

We have also been fortunate to ad Katherine Graham to our sales force. Katherine has a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) which will certainly assist her in her Real Estate career at De Freitas & Ryan. Blessed with natural people skills and a bright personality, Katherine has hit the ground running and is quickly establishing herself as a valuable member of our company.

On the 18th of August, Rod and I were thrilled to open up page 86 of the Western Australian newspaper to read an article regarding our three year anniversary in Business together.

It's been a wonderful journey so far and we look forward to many years of being of service to our loyal list of clients.

Property Blog - Week 144

It's been a big week in “Politics” as well as Real Estate and boy oh boy, Migi “The Marvel” won the meat tray for his prediction last week, as to who would win the election. Migi is on leave at the moment, so we can tell you that his brother is the leader of the Greens Bob Brown's press secretary which means that Mig probably feels that, that makes Miguel De Freitas about fourth in line to the throne. Anyway it's all a bit of fun but my favourite character to come out of the election “Fiasco” is the Federal Member for Kennedy in Queensland Bob Katter. Should we all be worried?….. I think we probably should.

Enough about politics, there's been plenty going on at De Freitas & Ryan. Sales, sales and more sales as we finish off what has been an excellent month of August. With Mig away it's been like we've all had a holiday, but I better keep that to myself.

Sir Milton Coombe keeps on building his client list and here is another satisfied customer. Yes keep up the good work Milton and I do love that testimonial that Frank wrote-yes Sir Milton the one you dictated for him.


“HECKLE AND JECKLE” AT IT AGAIN

“Two listings before 9 o'clock Boss”, was the call first thing this morning from Adrian (Heckle) and Graham (Jeckle) and then later on in the morning “Jeckle” stuck his head in my office to tell me I had better change the photo as he'd just picked up number 3 for the day.


THE APPLE DOESN'T FALL FAR FROM THE TREE

Young Joseph Romano has been helping out his busy father (El Presidente' Tony Romano) so we thought we'd squeeze him onto our blog this week. With a bit of luck we might be able to convince him that Real Estate is the “go”, but time will tell. In the meantime he's helping himself to Migi's fancy coffee machine and knocking off all of the chocolate biscuits- its great having him around.


WELCOME ABOARD KATHERINE

Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) at Curtin University will not do our new Sales Consultant Katherine Graham any harm. I went through Melbourne University myself for four years many years ago, but that was only because I had to get from the bus stop on the corner of Elgin and Lygon Street Carlton (and walk through the Melbourne University) to get to High School in Royal Parade Parkville in Melbourne. Anyway, seriously, Katherine has a big future ahead of her in Real Estate and she has already hit the ground running.

I'm extremely busy today and I'm just about to get on a conference call regarding a $6 million dollar deal Tony is involved in and I've got to get out of here early so I can see this years' grand finalist Freo play the Might Blues. Property Blog – Week 143

It's certainly been Another Big Week In Real Estate with lots and lots of excitement and plenty of slick footwork as we dance around the office trying to avoid those dreaded “flu germs”. Our beautiful Julie has just "waived the white flag" and headed home to get under the doona and young Jason has just about blown his nose off.

While all this has been going on we've managed to do a lot of business this week with the place firing on all cylinders.


Country Boy With Another Offer. This Time In Rockingham

Trav and Rob are both as busy as, and Mrs Gorbachov is wrapping up a block in Beeliar tomorrow morning. Marcus never stops working and he's doing one deal a week since he began with our company.


Milton Will Vote Informally Tomorrow

Sir Milton Coombe is here on his day off again and says he's close to doing a deal later this afternoon. He's also got the same old pair of jeans he will be wearing when he votes tomorrow, as he's decided to vote informally.


Keep Up The Paice Corey

Corey is busy doing deals and getting his Paice report published and out the door and Rocky is on the phone giving orders while he tries to list some acreage at the local golf course.


Looks Ok To Me

We have a new Sales Representative starting with us on Monday and we are trying to have her new office completed so she can hit the ground running. Katherine comes to us from the Kardinya area where she has been selling residential properties. More about Katherine next week.

You could say it's just not Cricket having our young Receptionist Ashleigh forced to model the Fremantle District Cricket Clubs uniform, but she doesn't seem to mind at all. Yes the Footy is drawing to a close and it's nearly that time of the year again when we get right behind our local Cricket Club.

Well this time next week we'll know if we have a Labour Government or a Liberal Government in power. I just heard from “Migi The Marvel” who's over in Sydney for a few days and he said “the word on the streets is the Greens will nearly double their vote but the Libs will just get across the line in a close one”.

Now we all know that Migi is a bit of a star when it comes to selling properties, but this is the first time I've heard of him being Laurie Oakes's young apprentice.

Anyway I can't wait for it all to be over so I can concentrate on Dancing With The Stars and Farmer Wants A Wife.
