It’s a beautiful day over here in Melbourne. I’ve got 4 coats on, 2 scarves, some lead in my pockets (so I don’t get blown away by the strong winds) and a rain hat with guttering to help ease the water pressure on the “old scone’ from the torrential rain – and they say this is the world’s most livable city.
Let’s hope the weather’s fine for The Cup on Tuesday, however it’s always a bit of a gamble over here on Cup day.
Our month of October back home at the “coal face’ of Real Estate in W.A was a real Melbourne Cup winning performance. We jumped out of the barriers at 100 miles an hour with some really good sales and then we built on it steadily for the first 800 meters or so. We then had a couple of other challenges come alongside (trying to poach our staff and plagiarising our advertising formats) and we were forced back on the rails for awhile around the 1500 meter mark.
Just after the half way mark, our mount “Freo Flyer’ (a Portuguese and Irish bred small stallion) pulled alongside the front runners four wide and started to settle in really nicely.
Approaching the turn at the two and a half thousand meter mark, our Kiwi jockey, Sir Milton Coombe, got the whip out and hit the front with four quick sales.
Then the crowd started to get behind “Freo Flyer’ and with an enormous sales and leasing input from all of the divisions, we edged further in front.
With 200 meters to go, we increased our lead and were able to win by 6 lengths in record time leaving the opposition to sort out the minor placings.
Back to reality Blog Followers, they tell me, “It’s Been Another Big Week In Real Estate’ with October proving to be one of our best months ever. The pleasing thing is that we’ve been listing as well as selling and our company continues to move forward.
I’ve got to go as we’ve got a “call of the card’ luncheon on today followed by some serious horsing around this weekend with some very unstable old friends of mine. Then it’s saddle up time for The Cup on Tuesday and back to Perth to get things on track for a big November in Real Estate.
